Sampark, Majid, Sanchit help J&K drub Haryana by 9 wkts

JAMMU, Sept 24: Riding on a superb display of bowling by Sampark Gupta and Majid and an equally good show by Sanchit Dass and Sahil Lotra with the bat, Jammu and Kashmir thrashed hosts Haryana by 9 wickets in the ongoing Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI’s) North Zone Under-14 Cricket Tournament at Sports Stadium Lahli in Haryana, today.
Earlier, after bundling out Haryana for paltry 96 runs in 75 overs in the first innings with left-arm spinner Sampark Gupta scalping 5 wickets, Taizeem taking 2 and Vivrant one, the J&K team sailing on good batting display by Sahil Lotra (25) and Sanchit Dass (19) J&K managed to score 122 runs in their first innings, thus getting a lead of 26 runs.
Trailing by 26 runs in the first innings, Haryana were bundled out for a meagre total of 45 runs, as they failed to face J&K’s bowling duo of speedster Majid who scalped 7 wickets and Sampark Gupta who took 3 wickets, thus setting a target of 19 runs for J&K.
J&K in reply scored the required runs by losing just one wickets. The batsman out was Jagjit for 4, while opener Sanchit was unbeaten on 10 runs and Sahil Lotra on seven.
This was the first win of Jammu and Kashmir in this tournament as they faced innings defeat against Himachal Pradesh and Delhi and lost to Punjab by 10 wickets in the three matches played so far.
