JAMMU, Nov 5:A superb display of bowling skills by talented left-arm spinner Sampark Gupta helped Jammu and Kashmir bundle out Himachal Pradesh for a paltry total of 111 runs, before scoring meagre total of 83 runs in their first innings in the BCCI’s 2-day Under-14 Cricket Tournament at Chandigarh, here today. J&K were comfortably placed at 56/1 in their second innings at stumps on day-1 today.
Earlier, winning the toss and electing to bat, J&K collapsed at 83 runs in their first innings. Opener Abdul Samad remained top scorer with 31 runs, while Raghav Sharma and Talha contributed 18 and 14 runs to the total respectively. At one point of time, J&K were 74/4.
In reply, Sampark Gupta wrecked havoc and spun web around the Himachal batsmen, scalping 8 important wickets by conceding 34 runs in his 21 overs with 11 maidens, to restrict them to 111 runs, gaining a lead of 28 runs. Aryan Gandral also took 2 wickets by giving away 33 runs in his 11 overs, bowling 4 maidens.
In their second essay, J&K were comfortably placed at 56/1, with skipper Kahnaya Wadhawan on unbeaten 22 and Musaif Ajaz on 9. Abdul Samad also contributed quick fire 22 runs with 4 boundaries and one six before his dismissal.
