SRINAGAR, May 14: Sangarmal Traders Federation today accused Srinagar Development Authority (SDA) of duping them in the name of state-of-the-art facilities and said the project is incomplete.
Talking to reporters here, the traders said at the time of inviting bids for investment in the Sangarmal, the SDA vide a special brochure had promised that the mall would include state-of-the-art facilities including multiplex, five star hotel, amusement park, convocation hall and other facilities.
“Given to never before attractions, we didn’t mind to beg, borrow and steal, to procure the space in the upcoming mall as we were hoping of secure business future but in 2010 it was inaugurated incomplete,” they said, adding and even now the mall isn’t 40 percent complete.
The traders said that they were asked to procure the remaining space by SDA so that commercial activities pick up. “But unlike previous deal when we made hundred percent payment, this time as a relief, we were asked to pay only 50% while the remaining amount was to be paid after four years which is 2016”, they added.
“As per the commitment, when we recently approached the SDA to make payments, we were asked to pay interest for four years than talk about the basic amount,” they said.
The traders said they have been running in losses and the mall sees no commercial and tourist activities and sought compensation from the Government.
