JAMMU, Apr 2: Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has ordered promotion of Sangeeta Gupta, Principal Commissioner of Income Tax J&K Circle as Chief Commissioner of Income Tax.
Sangeeta Gupta joined the new post as OSD at Jammu and is awaiting the new place of posting for which orders are likely to be issued within next few days.
During her posting as Principal Commissioner of Income Tax J&K Circle, the performance of the department touched new heights. She has not only achieved the targets vis-à-vis tax collection from J&K Circle but also played crucial rule in increasing the number of assessees, setting up of assessee friendly tax regime and above all exceeding the targets assigned under Income Declaration Scheme, which concluded in September last year.
She also led the department in successfully implementing PMGKY-2016, a window provided by the Government of India for disclosure of income corresponding to cash deposited in banks in old currency post demonetization.
