JAMMU, Nov 28: Team of Sangrampur emerged winner of the Volleyball tournament and lifted the title by defeating Patyali Chak team, organised by BJP Sports Cell, here today.
The tournament was inaugurated by Sukhnandan Kumar Choudhary, former Minister and chairman Panchayati Raj BJP Cell J&K. The tournament was organized in collaboration with Bawa Kaliveer Parivaar Tikhri Khanni under the guidance of BJP convener Sports Cell, Sunil Sharma and in coordination of co-convener, Parshotam Sharma, Raman Chadha, Anu Sharma and Deepak Panday.
The final match was played between Patyali Chak and Sangrampur in which Sangrampur team was declared as winner.
The chief guest said that there were two motives behind such tournaments- one was to pay tributes to Pt Prem Nath Dogra and Atal Behari Vajpayee- the veteran leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party and Jans Sngh who has outstanding contributions in nation building and second was to provide platform to the youths of the area to display their unexplored talent. “Sport is the medium to win the hearts of the people and now-a-days sport has become a profession where the players can earn name and fame for the country,” he asserted.
It is pertinent to mention here that BJP Sports cell JKUT has been organising Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Khel Pratiyogita from October 24-birth date of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra which will culminate on December 25- on the birth date of former Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee.
