Sanjeev’s century guides Geology Dept to register 58 runs win over Sociology Dept

JAMMU, Apr 4: Sanjeev’s century guided Geology Department to register win over Sociology Department by a huge margin of 58 runs and also to register birth in the next round of the ongoing Inter-Department (Men) Tournament, being organized by Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Varsity grounds here today.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Geology Department scored 187 runs for the loss of just 4 wickets in allotted 20 overs. Sanjeev chipped in brilliant shots and scored 101 runs in just 66 balls including 17 boundaries. Arshad Malik and Ajay also contributed 31 and 21 runs respectively.
For Sociology Department side, Tahir and Syed Nasir scalped one wicket apiece.
In the second inning, Sociology Department failed to chase the target and bundled out at 129 runs for all out in 18.4 overs. Rohit Khajuria was the top scorer with 21 runs, while Amjad and Ravi also chipped in 16 and 13 runs respectively.
For Geology Department side, Ajay Kumar was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 3 wickets, while, Sajad and Jagmeet also took 2 wickets each. Arshad also pocketed one wicket.
The match was officiated by Raj Kumar and Suresh Singh as umpires, while, Manu Khajuria maintained the scorecard.
Meanwhile, Botany Department got walkover against Punjabi Department as the latter failed to report to the venue.
The tournament is being organized under the supervision of Prof Dhian Singh Bhau, Director, Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu.
