PANCHARI, Sept 8: The second day of historic Sankri Devta Mela at village Meer in Tehsil Panchari attracted huge rush of people amidst festivity featuring variety shows and colourful cultural programmes.
The Mela has been organized under the overall supervision of District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Ravinder Kumar.
Department of Information & Public Relations, Udhampur organized awareness based cultural programme presented by Vijay and party which was highly applauded by the audience.
The variety shows (cultural programme) highlighting the need to Save the Girl Child and Swachh Bharat Mission were presented by the local folk artists. The programme highlighted the importance of generating awareness among the masses regarding the negative social impact of declining sex ratio also.
On 2nd day of three-day Mela J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages also presented a variety of programme depicting rich culture and heritage of the area.
The students of various educational institutions and folk artists belonging to surrounding areas presented folk dances and songs depicting the tradition of the area which was highly appreciated. Rural sports were also organized by the Department of DYSS Udhampur on the occasion.
The district administration Udhampur had made elaborate arrangements of security, drinking water, power supply, Medicare, traffic regulation, Transport etc.
Additional Secretary JKAACL, Dr Arvind Singh Aman, Secretary District Red Cross Society, Dr. V.P Sharma Tehsildar Panchari, Narinder Sharma ZPEO Panchari Pawan Kumar and officers of different departments witnessed the cultural programme.
