JAMMU, Apr 4: Departm-ents of Sanskrit and Department of ICCCR & HRM scripted resounding victories and sailed into the quarterfinal rounds of the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket Tournament, organized by the Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu at Varsity grounds, here.
In the first match, Sanskrit Department defeated Business School Department by 10 wickets in a one-sided contest.
Earlier, batting first, Business School scored 109 runs in the stipulated 15 overs for the loss of 9 wickets. Vishav was the top scorer with 64 runs, while Rajan and Pankaj made 14 and 10 runs respectively.
For Sanskrit Department, Mahesh, Arun, Harish, Raghu and Surinder took one wicket apiece.
In reply, Sanskrit Department chased the target easily in 11.4 and won the match by 10 wickets. Arun played a magnificent inning of 66 runs, while Satish scored 42 runs.
In another match, ICCCR & HRM thrashed Geography Department by 5 wickets.
Batting first, Geography Department scored 108 runs in the stipulated 15 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Pankaj was top scorer with 24 runs, while Lokinder, Aatish and Sandeep made 23, 20 and 15 runs respectively.
For ICCCR & HRM, Poland Singh, Anuj, Samarth and Sushain scalped one wicket each.
In reply, ICCCR & HRM chased the target in 13.5 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Poland Singh made 42 runs, while Aayush and Abhinav scored 25 and 22 runs respectively.
For Geography Department, Lokinder took 2 wickets, while Vishal and Rohit scalped one wicket apiece.
The matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Sadiq Hussain, Satpal, Mukesh Sharma, Rahul Sharma, Rajkumar Bakshi and Vinay Manhas.
