JAMMU, Jan 31: Secretary Youth Services & Sports and Information, Sarmad Hafeez, today flagged-off a batch of students to Manali to participate in the Ski and Snow Boarding Championship.
The students from various districts of Kashmir Division including Four Girls and nine Boys would participate in the championship.
While interacting with the students, the Secretary said that the participants should enjoy the game, and at the same time must adopt a positive approach and enthusiasm to perform well in the championship.
While highlighting the tremendous potential of the valley youth playing skiing, the Secretary said that this is a big opportunity for them to prove their talent and it would become a ladder for them to go and participate at bigger events.
He also said that such games will encourage and enhance participation of budding youth in various winter games.
The Secretary assured that Sports Council and Youth Services and sports are keenly working together to provide basic facilities to Sports persons which would enhance the quality and participation of youth at various levels. He further said that youth of the state have tremendous potential and many players had represented the country at international events.
The participants would participate in the Alpine Ski (Men and Women), Cross Ski (Men) and Snowboarding; Hardboard, Soft Board (Men) in National Savior Ski and Snow Boarding Championship at Manali.
Director General Youth Services and Sports, J&K, Dr Saleem Ur Rehman, Secretary Sports Council, Dr Naseem Choudhary besides senior officials of both the Departments were present on the occasion.
