‘Save Dogri’ signature campaign organized

JAMMU, Feb 21: The signature campaign “Save Dogri” organized by “Swabhiman”, NGO, on the auspicious occasion of International Mother Language Day here on Thursday got a massive response from the general public, especially the youth.
Senior Congress leader and former general secretary, All India Youth Congress (AIYC), Vikram Malhotra formally inaugurated the signature campaign in the presence of a large number of prominent citizens of Jammu city, besides, local people and the youth.
In his address, Vikram Malhotra demanded that Dogri should be taught in the schools from Primary level and that steps should be taken to make it a compulsory subject at the Secondary level.
Within three hours, more than three thousand people including senior citizens, women, youth and children put their signatures showing their respect and love for the Dogri language.
Not only the Dogri speaking people but those speaking Kashmiri, Gojri and other respective local languages of Jammu and its peripheries, came forward to express their love for Dogri language and took part in the signature campaign.
Prof R P Sharma, Madan Lal Abrol ( Principal, Arya Kanaya Vidhalaya, Purani Mandi, Jammu), Rajni Dogra, Triveni Sharma, Karan, Thomas Khokhar, Shafqat Khokhar, Balbir Singh, Jyoti, Farooq Salaria, Pawan, Amit Sharma, Sanjeev Sharma, Sushant, Rinku, Talat Niaz Qazi ( President Muslim Federation), Dipanker and others took part in the campaign.
