SAVE organizes ABC, ARV camps

JAMMU, Apr 29: To address man animal conflicts in cantonment areas, Save Animals Value Environment (SAVE)—an organization working for the welfare of animals organized a 14 day Animal Birth Control (ABC) and Anti-Rabies Vaccination (ARV) camps at Janglote Army Military Station, Kathua and Army Military Station Nagrota, Jammu in collaboration with team from WVS Goa.
The dogs picked for spay programme were released back to their locations after proper post-operative and vaccinations.
As revealed by Radhika Sharma, animal activist and member of SAVE, along with the sterilization, many dogs were also de-wormed and treated for other ailments.
During the ABC/ARV camp in Kathua, families from as far as Pathankot brought their pet for sterilization and Pritika—animal activist and member of SAVE made efforts to get all the female dogs of Army School get sterilized and some puppies were given Anti Rabies Vaccination as well.
During the drive in Nagrota Military Station, SAVE offered free services of their Ambulance to animal lovers who wanted to get their community animals sterilized from Jagti Migrant Camp, Katra Vaishno Devi and Ghomanhasa in Jammu.
Rotary Club Jammu Helping Hands sponsored medicines for the camp.
Speaking on the occasion, Devinder Kaur Madaan, chairperson SAVE said that feeding dogs makes them human friendly and they can be then easily caught for sterilization and regular vaccinations by feeders.
