SC asks Centre to make its stand clear on Rajiv Gandhi case convict

 NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the central government if it was willing to set free AG Perarivalan, convict in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case.
A division bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Ranjan Gogoi and also comprising Justices Navin Sinha was hearing the case.
The apex court granted two weeks’ time to the Centre to reply in the case and make its stand clear on the release of one of the convicts, Perarivalan in the case.
“You (the Centre) make your stand clear on whether you want to release Perarivalan or what, ” the bench said on Tuesday.
The Tamil Nadu Government had earlier in its order decided to release Perarivalan, to which the Centre was opposed. The top court on Tuesday fixed the matter for further hearing to December six. (AGENCIES)
