SC upholds fine on petitioner alleging corruption against Nitish Govt

 

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court today upheld the fine imposed on a petitioner who had in his plea alleged corruption against the Nitish Kumar Government.

   The top court also rejected the petitioner, Mithilesh Kumar Singh’s review petition in the case.

     A division bench comprising Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar and Justice DY Chandrachud, dismissed the review petition filed by Mr Singh.

     The apex court today upheld the fine of Rs one-lakh imposed on Mr Singh  and asked him to deposit it within a week’s time.

   Mr Singh had also filed a review petition in the apex court,  challenging its earlier order which had imposed one-lakh rupees fine on him. Mr Singh had also filed a plea in the apex court seeking a CBI inquiry into the Nitish Kumar Government’s alleged involvement in corruption.

     The Supreme Court had dismissed his petition and had imposed a fine of Rs one lakh for wasting the court’s precious time. (AGENCIES)
