SCA drubs Burn Hall, Spring Buds outplays New Convent

SRINAGAR, June 4: State Cricket Academy (SCA) of J&K State Sports Council (JKSSC) defeated Burn Hall School while as Spring Buds Budgam defeated New Convent Rajbagh in the ongoing Kashmir Harvard U-16 Inter-School cricket tournament at TRC ground here today.
In the first match of the day, SCA defeated Burn Hall in a closely fought affair.
Batting first SCA thanks to 51-run knock scored by Irfan (F) posted 153 runs for the loss of 9 wickets. Irfan with 51 was highest scorer while as Mukeet scored 24 and Waris contributed 15 runs. For Burn Hall, Salroo took three wickets while as Aleem and Mutariq claimed two wickets each.
In reply, Burn Hall at point were in sight of victory but some tight bowling in death overs by SCA did he job for them. Needing 27 runs from last three overs, Burn Hall fell short by 13 runs. Burn Hall were able to score only 140 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Mutariq with 33 was highest scorer for them while as Haseem scored 32. Mohammad scored 25. For SCA, Irfan Gul and Irfan(F) took two wickets each while as Mukeet took one. Irfan for his all-round performance was adjudged as man of the match.
Peoples Democratic Party Youth Wing Secretary Arif Laigaroo alongwith Burn Hall official Mohammad Shafi were guests on man of the match ceremony.
In the second match of the day, Spring Buds Budgam defeated New Convent Rajbagh by four wickets in the low scoring affair. Batting first New Convent scored 80 runs for the loss of all wickets. In reply Spring Buds achieved required target for the loss of six wickets. Tahir Manzoor for scoring 33 runs and taking four wickets was adjudged as the man of the match.
The event is organized by State Cricket Academy in collaboration with Amblin and is sponsored by Kashmir Harvard, J&K Bank and Unibec Biscuits.
