School building fraud: Vigilance produces challan against accused

SRINAGAR, June 12: Vigilance Organization Kashmir has produced Charge Sheet against two retired officers of School Education Department   and a Numberdar for committing fraud in construction of a school building under SSA.
Challan in case FIR No. 04/2013  U/S 5(1)(c)(d) r/w 5(2) J&K P. C. Act. Samvat 2006, Section 34, 120-B, 468, 471 RPC P/S VOK Srinagar, has been produced in the
Anti-Corruption Court, Baramulla,  against the accused persons Abdul  Gani Wani, the then In-charge Zonal Education Officer, Education Zone Chandoosa, Baramulla (now retired),   Abdul Qayoom Khan, the then In-charge Headmaster Govt Middle School Muran Tangwai  (now retired) and  Mohammad Maqbool Lone, Numberdar of village Muran Tangwari, District Baramulla.
The case was registered by the  Vigilance Organization Kashmir  on the outcome of a verification into the allegations that aforementioned accused in furtherance of criminal conspiracy hatched by and between themselves,  have drawn an amount of Rs 3.65 lakh  in the year 2007-08 against construction of  three- roomed school building under SSA Scheme at Govt  Middle School Muran Tangwari. A sub-standard school building has come up contrary to the approved design and payment of Rs 3.65 lakh has been made against guidelines of SSA scheme without obtaining certificates from concerned engineers. Rs.3.65 lakh were drawn against actual expenditure of Rs 1.80 lakh thereby causing loss to the state exchequer.
The investigation of the case was concluded as proved against these accused persons and for launching prosecution, the Challan of the case has been produced before the Court of Special Judge Anti-corruption, Baramulla Kashmir.
