Sir,
This has reference to School Education Draft Act 2013 inviting suggestions from cross section of society to make it more comprehensive and beneficial to school going children. The draft act, of course, encompasses few sparkling provisions such as empowering local ‘village committees to advise the Govt. on proper implementation of new educational policy, responsibility of parents to ensure that children are not deprived of elementary education, opening of schools at places where elementary education has not yet arrived and stamping out private tuition by teachers employed with Education deptt. This is good thinking on part of the Govt. to formulate the new school education act which would give a fillip to the movement of total literacy in the state and would certainly wipe out the scourge of illiteracy from the roots.
While bringing out the final blue print of the draft act it shall be advisable and useful to incorporate some provisions under the guidance of Experts not to unnecessarily burden the kids with extraneous academic syllabus as per the prevailing trend in the private schools as well as Govt. schools. It leaves scant time for children to devote attention to some important extra curricular activities. The small kids are excessively loaded with a variety of books, work note books. The satchels on their backs present a horrific scene which really hurts and bruises the dear ones in the core of the heart. They are just raw buds waiting to blossom and expose to thorny and tormenting pursuits of the too competitive world. Accordingly the budding heroes are deprived of pleasures of their lush green childhood.
Difficult syllabus and a heap of study courses will not be able to make perfect citizens out of stressful stuff of our progeny. Let them enjoy their transitory childhood to the hilt; understand their inherent faculties, mental inclinations to enable them to settle down to careers commensurate to their aptitude. This would help relieving the superfluous worries of parents and unwanted stress in school going children. Further the authorities must seriously rethink to mull the introduction of moral education from the nursery stage itself for the purpose of inducing life values in the tender hearts. This would make the Education Act more efficacious and productive. Let us make a good beginning to harness and utilize our divine human resources to the optimum level.
Yours etc……
