School sealed, fined for violating Govt orders

SRINAGAR, Nov 28: Authorities in Anantnag today directed for sealing of a school and also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh after finding out that the school was operating openly in violation to the Government orders issued in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.
An order, in this regard, was issued by the Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag which stated that the Chief Education Officer informed that the school-Oxford Presentation High School K P Road Anantnag-was found open during an inspection which was carried out after receiving a complaint in this regard.
The order stated that it was found that normal classwork was on in the school without observing any SOPs because of COVID-19, especially in pre-primary classes in violation of Government orders.
“The act of school administration may have serious ramifications as COVID-19 infection has not been controlled and the Government has strictly directed that normal school work shall not be resumed as the young kids are one of the vulnerable groups,” reads the order issued here.
To safeguard the precious lives and as a preventive measure, the order stated that the need for closing the premise was felt to be necessary.
“In view of the above, I, K K. Sidha, District Magistrate Anantnag in exercise of powers vested to me under Section 144 of the Cr.PC, Section 34 of National Disaster Management Act 1897 do hereby order the closure of premises till further orders besides imposition of penalty to the tune of Rs. 1.00 lakh only for violating guidelines of government,” reads the order issued in the regard.
The concerned Tehsildar Anantnag and SHO Anantnag have been directed to act upon the directions and seal the premises while also a compliance report has been sought from them.
