Sir,
The Education sector in the State is not receiving much attention. This is the sector which should have been attached importance keeping in view the sufferings of students community and teachers. A cursory look at the health of these schools reveals that those located in rural areas lack many basic facilities. These schools are functioning in building which do not have even toilet or drinking water facility. The children use water from nearly streams or springs which usually is not fit for drinking. It has also been seen that to attend nature call they go into fields. In some schools where they exist, these are in a bad condition and are not maintained properly. They even lack water.
As a result, they seek stench. The Mid Day Meal scheme which was introduced in schools sometime back has not been much successful. It has a great nuisance value. The students who are served meals are seen squatted disorderly here and there. The Dal which is served with rice is seen dribbling from the mouths on their uniforms. One or two teachers also gets involved in this activity thus hampering school work. Likewise, there is paucity of space and staff in these schools.
These things need to be taken into consideration while framing education policy in the State.
Yours etc…
