JAMMU, July 16: A science quiz competition was organized by Vishwakarma Library and Research Centre (SVLARC) New Plots, here today in which seven teams participated.
The programme was held under the Chairmanship of Ramesh Angotra , convener of the Library while Sudershan Salaria was guest of honour. Balwant Kataria was the quiz master whose presentation reflected the role of Science in day to day life.
Seven participating teams were Team- I; Neha Verma, Anjali Verma Ritika Verma; Team-II, Kreetka Kataria, Vanshika Dhiman, Akhilesh Balotra; Team-III, Akanksha Verma, Ganesh Kumar, Misty; Team- IV, Tannu Verma, Manisha Verma, Anshul Balotra; Team- V, Bharti Sharma, Radhika Kataria, Kamini Verma, Team- VI, Radhika Verma, Hanshit Angotra, Vishakha Chargotra; Team -VII, Shivani Kataria, Rajan Kataria and Kashvi Verma.
The statement said Team- III stood first with 70 out of 85 points conferred with cash prize of Rs 2,100. Team-VI stood second with 65 points and was given away a cash prize of Rs 1500 and Team – II stood 3rd scoring 50 points and got a cash prize of Rs 900. Others were also conferred with consolation prizes.
Sudershan Salaria, appreciated the role of Vishwakarma Library for conducting such a useful programme in which brain storming happens. Ramesh Angotra (Convener of Library) in his address disclosed that such events lead to the inculcation of scientific temper in the new generation which is necessary to counter many superstitions. He informed that this Quiz Competition was started in 2011 and is continuously held every year.
