Screening camp for children with special needs held

DODA, Oct 4: Rashtriya Rifles Battalion under Delta Force in collaboration with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), Kanpur and District Health Officer, Doda organized a health assessment camp for children with special needs aged between of 6 to 18 years in Gundoh, today.
The aim of this camp was to screen patients and recommend them for assistive devices (prosthesis as well as eye refractive/ cataract devices).
The doctors screening the patients included Specialists from ALIMCO, ENT and Ortho specialists from District Hospital Doda and Army Medical Officers from Sohanda Rashtriya Rifles battalion and Military Hospital, Doda.
The camp was organised in synergy with the Central Govern-ment Umbrella Programme of SSA which has been operational in Doda district since 2002 which aims to universalize elementary education with special focus on girl child and children with special needs.
Approximately 227 children with special needs and other affected patients were screened in the camp out of which 90 patients stand recommended for distribution of assistive devices.
The process of physiotherapy and operations to recommended persons would be done through Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India in near future.
