JAMMU, Sept 8: Bharat Mukti Morcha (BMM) today expressed support for the Bill providing SC/ST reservation in promotion in Government jobs and said the benefit should be given to OBCs also as they are under-represented.
“We support the Bill for reservation in promotion for SC and ST employees and demand that it should also be given to OBCs as they are least represented in the administration,” BMM State chief Ashok Kumar Basotra told reporters here today.
He claimed Congress and BJP were not serious about passing the Bill as they were not allowing Parliament to function.
“Congress and BJP are hand-in-glove with each other, and in order to defeat the purpose of giving reservation in promotions to SCs, STs and OBCs, both these parties are not allowing Parliament to function,” he said.
Basotra claimed after more than 60 years of democracy, the representation of SCs, STs and OBCs in the Legislature, Executing and judiciary was less than 10 per cent despite their population being more than 85 percent in India.
He held upper classes responsible for stalling the entry of Backward Classes i.e SCs, STs and OBCs in the Legislature, Executive and Judiciary.
He said since the independence Upper Castes dominated all four pillars of democracy in the country while the Backward classes were totally neglected and they deprived over 85 percent population of the country of equality and justice.
