SRINAGAR, June 14: All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC Organizations J&K unit held one day national convention on reservation in services and Government appointments for members of these communities.
The speakers from these communities hailing from various districts of the J&K  assailed the anti-reservation policies of the State Government towards the  recruitment/adhoc appointments in ICDS Projects, Rehbar-e-Zirat, Rehbar-e-Taleem, Rehbar-e-Sehat etc. They said the  representation of SCs and STs employees is  decreasing fast.
They alleged that contractual  and adhoc appointments are made only on pick and chose basis and only influential   people can prevail upon leaders  and senior officers. The SC, ST and OBC candidates are not engaged on contractual/adhoc basis due to which there is strong resentment and anguish among these communities.
They emphasized that there should be due representation and reservation in new recruitment policy being framed by the Government.  The Confederation resolved to pursue the issues like enactment of National Level Reservation Promotion Bill; Reservation Act; Reservation in Private Sector; adequate share in Tribal Sub- plan and Special Component Plan.
State president of the Confederation  RK Kalsotra submitted memorandum to the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of  J&K State through Dr Udit Raj,  Member Parliament  and National Chairman of the Confederation.
