MENDHAR, Mar 12: To create awareness about voter participation under Systematic Voters Education and Electoral Participation, a rally of students from various Government institutions was organized here today.
The rally was flagged off by Sub District Magistrate (SDM) Ramesh Kumar, who while speaking exhorted upon the students to act as change makers and spread the message of effective electoral participation in remote areas.
Carrying placards and banner, more than 400 students from Government Girls Higher Secondary Schools of tehsil Mendhar participated in the rally, which passed throught bus stand and main market of Mendhar. The participants of the rally were holding banners and placards to encourage people to register for electoral list and importance of vote.
All the departments have been assigned duty under SVEEP for 100 per cent coverage about information on electoral participation and cover the left out electors. Special emphasis was laid on participation of women and marginalized sections.
Speaking on the occasion SDM said that main aim of the rally is to motivate voters so as to increase voters’ turnout.
One of the best ways of this is to educate and aware students about importance of registration and voting in order to motivate their parents to cast their vote, he added.
SDPO Mendhar Surinder Choudhary and Dy CEO Mendhar Mohammad Azam were also present on the occasion.
