JAMMU, June 5: Jammu Province People’s Forum (JPPF) today opined the Government to work out a mechanism (through IT) to allow civil secretariat employees hailing from Jammu province to continue to do work from Jammu, and allow them to remain in Jammu only.
The issue came up for discussion in a meeting of the Forum held today to discuss burning issues of civil secretariat employees. JPPF opined that shifting of employees during this period to Srinagar is not advisable and moreover it is not going to yield any positive result as functioning of secretariat is also not in full swing, rather it is going to put their life under severe danger because of worsening situation of COVID-19 in Kashmir.
It was further resolved that functioning of secretariat be allowed in Jammu as it will not only facilitate the public of Jammu province who under these circumstances cannot travel to Srinagar but will also give an opportunity to the secretariat employees to look after them as well as their family members more effectively.
JPPF also decided to agitate as well as to take up this matter with the higher authorities at UT and Central Government level keeping in mind the demand of thousands of employees working in Civil Secretariat.
The members present were Pavitar Singh (Retd Session Judge) president, M S Katoch, (working president) Avinash Bhatia, M L Sharma, Resham Singh, Surender Vir, Charanjit Kumar, Gurmit Singh, Rajeev Mahajan, Pritam Sharma and Sunita Sharma.
