Secularism is the strength of prosperous nations: Azad

JAMMU : Union Health Minister and Congress candidate from Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary Constituency Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that secularism is the strength of prosperous nation.

Describing Doda district of J&K as miniature of Secular India, Mr Azad said, “Only those nations prosper, where secularism exists.”

“The misinformation campaign started by BJP particularly against Congress party-much before the announcement of Lok Sabha elections- is knocking down day by day as it had no existence on the ground,” Mr Azad said while addressing the gathering during a road show in Doda district.

The Union Minister said that much before the announcements of Lok Sabha elections, BJP started the propaganda to divert the attention of the masses, which they call wave in befooling the people, now evident nowhere.

Lambasting BJP for its lust to come in power by hoodwinking the innocent people of the country, Mr Azad said, “The population of Chenab valley that comprises Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and Banihal belts is a symbol of secularism. It is the united effort of people who have strengthened secularism in this belt which has further helped in initiating developmental works here. Only secularism can ensure development.”

He called upon the people to counter the divisive moves of certain political parties, which are least bothered about addressing the miseries of the people and instead they (political parties) have just one hidden agenda- to fool the people on the name of religion and caste and exploit their votes. He appealed the people to cast their votes to strengthen the secular forces. (AGENCIES)
