Security forces engaged in encounter with militants in north Kashmir

SRINAGAR :  An encounter is going on between security forces and militants in the woods in Karnah sector near the Line of Control (LoC), official sources said.
They said security forces noticed a group of militants at Eagle post near LoC in Karnah sector. However, when challenged and asked to surrender, militants opened fire, which was retaliated, ensuing a fierce encounter last night.
Additional security forces were rushed from nearby camps and entire forest area was cordoned off to foil any attempt by militants to escape.
With the first light this morning, operation was launched again, they said, adding that details are awaited. (AGENCIES)
