JAMMU, Nov 1: In an effort to emphasize the need for efficiency and transparency in public life and also to create awareness among the masses particularly in youths, Power Grid Corporation of India organized a debate competition on the topic “Is Education without ethics and morality ,useless?” in GGM Science College here today.
Around 30 contestants from 16 colleges participated in the debate. The debate was conducted in a charged up spirit with all the speakers forcefully highlighting the evils of corruption and importance of morality in our education system and society at large.
Seerat Baji of Government college for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Harishta Sharma of Government Degree College, Akhnoor and Tanvi Mahajan of Government Degree college, Kathua were adjudged first, second and third respectively whereas consolation prizes went to Rupali Jasrotia of Government Degree College Kathua and Animesh Tiwari of SPMR College, Jammu.
RVS Kushwaha, General Manager (AM) was the chief guest, while Dr Satinder Singh, Principal GGM Science College was the guest of Honour. Senior officials of Power Grid were also present on the occasion. Large number of students and faculty members of the college witnessed the debate competition.
Dr Anil Gupta, Associate Professor and Faculty Member, The Business School University of Jammu, Dr JS Chouhan, Chief Manager (HR) Power Grid and Vinul Koul, Deputy Manager (PR&IT) were the judges of the event.
The programme was coordinated by Sudhir Dhar, Chief Manager (Vigilance), Power Grid and his team in association with team of GGM Science College led by Prof Ruth.
