Srinagar, Apr 2: Department of Immunology and Molecular Medicine in association with Beckman Coulter India Limited organized a one day seminar on flowcytometry here today at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) Soura.
A spokesperson of SKIMS said the Head of Department, Immunology and Molecular Medicine and organizing chairman, Dr Zaffar A Shah in his address briefed about application and use of Flowcytometry technique in patient care and research activities at SKIMS.
“He said the technique has a leading role in research activities and patient care. It provides rapid analysis of single cell & is used in cell analysis, cell counting, cell sorting, protein engineering and other research based activities,” the spokesperson said. SKIMS’ is in possession of two Flowcytometres which is largely benefitting the poor patients and the technique is both economical user friendly, Dr Zaffar said.
Director SKIMS Dr Showkat Ahmad Zargar, who was chief guest on occasion, hailed Dr Zaffar for his efforts and dedication for patient care and academic and research activities. “He appreciated Dr Zaffar for generating whopping grant for establishing cancer diagnostic lab,” said the SKIMS spokesperson.
