Seminar on ESI Scheme held

SRINAGAR, Mar 21:  To increase the awareness among the stakeholders, a seminar on ESI Scheme was organized by Employers and Employees in association with ESIC J&K Region Office today at AEGIS, Rangreth, here under the initiative of the AEGIS Management.
About 50 stakeholders representing employers, companies, employees, human resources executives of various industries including AEGIS, comfort polymers participated which included Omar Wani, Assistant Vice President, Operations from AEGIS.
Kois Pandow, Assistant Manger (HR) and Imad, senior Executive (HR) facilitated the seminar and Kunal Kumar Branch Manager, ESIC conducted the seminar.
They stated that in the recent past, the ESI Scheme has been very responsive to the needs of the employees and hoped that their employees would continue to get benefits under the Scheme seamlessly.
Sunil K Mehto, Deputy Director, ESIC explained various provisions of Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948 relating to contributions and consequences in defaults on compliance with the provisions of the Act.
Sindo Ram, Deputy Director, ESIC gave an overview of all the benefits available to covered insured employees like full medical care, cash compensations during sickness or maternity of employees and benefits available to dependants of the employees dying in harness due to employment injuries.
Regional Director, ESIC Arvind Kumar underscored various salient and unique employee friendly features of the scheme.
To a query on referral, Dr VP Mathur, State Medical Commissioner clarified that as of now ESI Dispensaries in Srinagar can refer any case to ESIC Model Hospital in Jammu for arrangement of super specialty or even secondary treatment, if not available in Srinagar or if insured employee finds such arrangement convenient.
If required arrangement for cashless treatment would be made even in Delhi or other city where best such facility may exist.
Earlier in the day the ESIC team held Suvidha Samagam at Branch Office where large number of employees, particularly from Khonmoh area, demanded immediate posting of doctors in MDDC and providing all diagnostic facilities there. State Medical Commissioner assured to take necessary action at the earliest.
