Semis line-up drawn as J&K takes on West Bengal

SRINAGAR, Oct 23: With league matches ending today J&K secured berth in the semi finals to clash with West Bengal while Assam will take on Uttar Pradesh in the ongoing 27th All India Postal Cricket Tournament at Srinagar.
Earlier, on the third day of the tournament matches were played at Kashmir University and Islamia College in which Himachal beat Bihar by 143 runs, Assam drubbed Andra Pradesh by 6 wickets, West Bengal thrashed Kerala by 99 runs, Uttar Pradesh got better of Tamil Nadu, Delhi thrashed Kerala and Odhisa outplayed Himachal.
In the first match played at Kashmir University, Himachal after winning the toss during the morning session opted for batting and scored 204 runs for the loss of six wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Ranjeet Singh with his unbeaten 41 was the higher scorer for Himachal Pradesh. Chasing the target of 205 Bihar was bowled out by Himachal in the 10th over as Nitesh from Himachal took 4 wickets. He was awarded Man of the Match for his brilliant spell.
In second match played between Assam and Andhra Pradesh, Assam beat Andhra by 6 wickets to secure his place in the semi final. Earlier, Assam after winning the toss invited Andhra Pradesh for batting. With Kranti’s 61 runs Andhra gave a target of 167 to Assam for the loss of 6 wickets in the allotted overs. Assam achieved the target in 19.3 overs after the loss of 4 wickets. Pritam who scored 61 runs (not out) for Assam was adjudged as Man of the match.
In another match West Bengal beat Kerala by 99 runs. With the stunning innings of Abhisheik Chowdry who score 88 runs in just 57 balls West Bengal scored 199 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the prescribed over. Kerala however failed to achieve the target and the entire team managed to score only 100 runs for losing 8 wickets in the allotted overs. Sohan Gosh of West Bengal took 3 wickets while Abhisheikh Chowdry was awarded man of the match for his unbeaten knock of 88 runs.
The fourth match of the league was played between Himachal and Odisha which was won by Odisha. Himchal after winning the toss and decided to bat but the decision turned sour as entire team bowled out by Odisha on 130 runs in 19.2 overs. S Nayak took three wickets for Odhisha which later chased the target in 19.2 overs for the loss of two wickets. Jagannath from Odisha awarded man of the match for 31 runs and 2 wickets.
In another match, Tamil Nadu was defeated by Uttar Pradesh. After winning the toss UP opted to field and Tamil Nadu scored 157 for the loss of four wickets. Santosh Kumar was the highest scorer for Tamil Nadu for scoring 65 runs. Uttar Pradesh achieved the target in 19 overs with Ankit Tiwari scoring 58 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.
In last league match of the tournament Delhi beat Kerala by 5 wickets. Playing first Kerala was all out on 119 in 19.4 overs. Delhi achieved the target in 19.1 overs. Kirpal of Delhi awarded man of the match for his 45 runs and 3 wickets.
