Semis lineup drawn in TT; MAM College to take on GDC Udhampur in Chess final

JAMMU, Aug 25: Semifinals position has been cleared in the Inter-Collegiate Table tennis Championship today, while MA M College will take on GDC Udhampur in men’s Chess final and GCW Parade will lock horns with PG Department  in the women’s Chess summit clash, here tomorrow.
In the Inter-Collegiate Table Tennis (Men & Women) quarterfinals were played at Gymnasium Hall, University of Jammu, Prof Avtar Singh Jasrotia, Director Directorate of Sports and Physical Education interacted with the players.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Raj Kumar Bakshi , Vikas Karlopia, Mahesh Sharma, Neeraj Sharma and Suman Lata.
In men’s section quarterfinals matches, Yoga Nanda College for Engineering and Technology beat GCET Udhampur by 3-1; PG Department beat GDC Paloura  by 3-0;  GCET drubbed GDC Kathua  by 3-0 and  SPMR College of Commerce  defeated GGM Science College  by 3-1, while in women’s  section, GCW Parade beat ASCOMS by 3-1.
The matches were officiated by Ravish Vaid ,  Meenu, Rajesh, Tanveer and Gourav Sharma.
In   Inter-Collegiate Chess Championship 2017-18, the semifinals were played today.
In men’s section, Govt MAM College defeated YCET Jammu team by 4-0 points.  Vishal beat Kamran Ahmed Khan, Rajat drubbed Salman Ali, Sahil outplayed Kamran Shubam and Surinder Singh outclassed Arjun Jamwal.
GDC Udhampur beat GDC Samba by 4-0 points. Shivang beat Abhinek, Ankush got better of Rishav,  Raghuveer  Singh thrashed Sanjay and Parul Kumar  trounced Roshan.
In women’s section, GCW Parade outplayed GCW Kathua by 3-1 points. Sonali beat Asha, Hansja drubbed Reema, Anchal prevailed over Naina, Heena  of GCW  Parade lost to Prianjali of Kathua College.
PG Department JU got the better of GDC Kathua by 4-0 points. Monika prevailed over Shivani, Geetanjali  beat Kajal, Navneet Kour  outclassed Pooja and Meehak Bakshi thrashed  Ramma Sharma.
Prof BD Sehgal, Pardeep Kumar, Sumnesh Sharma and Suman Lata were present on the occasion.
