JAMMU, Feb 17: International Centre for Cross Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM) today organized a Session on ‘Business, Society and Policy Connect’ for the students of the MBA: International Business (MBA-IB) Programme.
Professor Poonam Dhawan, Dean Academic Affairs, University of Jammu (JU) was the chief guest on the occasion and Ashima Koul, Managing Director, Yakjah Reconciliation and Development Network, was the guest of honour.
The objective of the programme was to motivate the students to carry out their personal and professional journeys in life through development of self and others as responsible corporate professionals.
Professor Poonam Dhawan, while addressing the students reflected upon the responsibility on the shoulders of management students towards economic and social development. She encouraged the students to understand business perspectives from societal ends. She advised the students to appreciate cultural diversity within organizations and devise policies which cater to societal needs and concerns.
During her interaction on the occasion, Ashima Koul, who has a more than a decade of experience in youth empowerment, public policy, transformative education and peace building, said that  Yakjah and ICccR & HRM shall be working as research and extension partners to promote social harmony and peaceful co-existence.
Earlier, Professor Neelu Rohmetra, Director, ICccR & HRM, while speaking on the occasion, said that all kinds of transformation happen through processes of collaboration between institutions and individuals. Business education must train students about the ultimate goal to serve societal stakeholders, she added.
On the occasion, certificates were distributed by the chief guest to the students of the MBA-International Business (MBA-IB) Programme, who participated in the Level II Workshop on ‘Conscious Leadership and Social Change’ held recently. The volunteers of Yakjah who had participated and led several initiatives of Yakjah including flood relief drives during the last two years, were also acknowledged for their support.
Dr Pallvi Arora and Isha Sharma, faculty members at ICccR & HRM, coordinated the event.
