UDHAMPUR, Feb 3: GDC Ramnagar organized a counselling session on ‘Career Prospects in Civil Services” in collaboration with SR College of Competitions, Jammu, here today.
The event was organized by the Career Counselling and Placement Cell of Govt. Degree College Ramnagar under the guidance of College Principal, Dr Udhey Bhanu. The session began with the formal welcome address by Prof. Swarna Devi, convener of the Cell, followed by the lecture by Goutam Kumar Pandey, a renowned mentor and resource person of the programme from the SR College of Competitions, Jammu.
He explained in detail about the prerequisites of cracking the civil services examinations and informed that only a Bachelor and PG degree is not enough but they need a dedicated hard-work, sincerity and consistency.
He stressed that for cracking this prestigious exam, students need to perform some specific exercises like reading newspapers daily and NCERT books, understand national and international current and social issues, learning good presentation, time-management, reading previous year question-papers of UPSC and most important focus on personality development.
The Principal exhorted upon the importance of counselling of those aspirant students who want to go for civil services and to guide them for cracking this prestigious exam. He congratulated the members of Career, Counselling and Placement cell to organize an inspiring lecture.
The programme ended with the formal vote of thanks by Prof. Suresh Kumar Dogra, HoD Physics.
Dr. Divya Puri, Prof. Shobha Rani, Prof. Naveed Hassan, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad, Dr. Rashmi Gupta, Prof. Aditya Sharma, Prof. Brinder Kumar, Miss Shaveta and Prafful Sharma were also present on the occasion.
