Several condemn Pak action on border, visit victims

JAMMU, Jan 19: Various political parties, social organizations and prominent individuals have strongly condemned border ceasefire violations by Pakistan in RS Pura and Arnia sector of Jammu, which claimed lives of innocent civilians and a BSF jawan besides injuries to others.
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh visited Government Medical College Hospital Jammu to enquire about the condition of people injured in the cross-border firing and directed the concerned officials to ensure best medicare to the victim. He also interacted with the injured patients and their attendants and assured that best medical facilities   would be provided to them.
BJP State president and MLA Sat Sharma, accompanied by State general secretary Pawan Khajuria and others, also visited the GMC Hospital Jammu and inquired about the health of victims who are undergoing treatment here. They  enquired about the condition of all the victims who were injured in the firing and shelling from across the border.
Sat Sharma  said that the present dispensation under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was  committed to the welfare of the masses at all levels be it inside the civilian areas or at the borders. He said that Pakistan’s action will not be tolerated at any level.
JKPCC president G A Mir has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in exchange of heavy firing on LoC. He  also hit out at Central Govt for its weak Foreign Policy, resulting in escalation of tensions on borders causing heavy damages to life and properties.
Senior Congress leaders, in a joint statement by Sham Lal Sharma,  Raman Bhalla,  Ravinder Sharma, S  Manjit Singh, Vikram Malhotra, Manmohan Singh, Namrata Sharma,  G L  Chalotra, Prof  Gharu Ram,  Shashi Sharma and S  Sobha Singh ,   have also strongly condemned fresh heavy shelling by the Pakistan since yesterday in various parts, resulting into  BSF jawan attained martyrdom and death of  two civilians besides injuries to several others. The Congress leaders asked the authorities to ensure the safety of border residents and make all contingency arrangements to deal with the situations.
They also demanded befitting response to the Pakistan for unprovoked firing especially in civilian areas.  Later, these Congress leaders also visited the GMC Hospital Jammu and enquired about the injured persons.
Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, senior Congress leader and former Minister, expressed grave concern over the rise of incidents of ceasefire violation on border causing deaths and destruction. He came  down heavily on ruling PDP-BJP coalition in State and Modi Government in Centre alleging that  the  Government has completely failed to defend  the life and property of the people living on border.
Senior Congress leader Arun Sharma personally visited the border areas of Ramgarh sector and interacted with the families affected due to heavy firing from across the border. He appealed the Government to take all necessary measures for safety of the people.
Former MLC Vikramaditya Singh expressed his heartfelt condolences with the families of the two innocent civilians whose lives were lost in the heavy shelling by Pakistan in RS Pura. He said that the residents of Jammu border areas continue to suffer for the past few decades and hence Central and State Governments must take steps for their rehabilitation and compensation.
Jammu West Assembly Movement, led by Sunil Dimple, held a protest demonstration against Pakistan and demanded a befitting reply to the neighbouring country for repeatedly violating the ceasefire. He also charged the Modi Government with failure to protect the border inhabitants, who have been facing bullets.
Public Opinion Forum chairman Parveen Sharma has strongly condemned the Pak action on border and demanded a befitting reply to the hostile country. He also appealed the Government for ensuring safety of the border inhabitants by making all possible arrangements for their stay at safer places.
Janta Dal United State vice-president and Incharge Jammu Region, Om Parkash Sharma along with Youth wing leader Keshav Sharma has stressed that the central Government should take adequate steps for teaching Pakistan a lesson so that it may not dare to open fire towards Indian side.
Sehyog Charitable Trust condemned the continuous ceasefire violations by Pakistan across the International Border and Line of Control across the Jammu Province. In a press statement, Chairman, Sehyog Charitable Trust Danish Mishra said that the continuous ceasefire violation by the Pakistan is a matter of great concern. Mishra asked the Government of India to take some strict action against ceasefire violations by Pakistan. He demanded compensation for the victims of cross border firing. Mishra also asked the Government of India to formulate a comprehensive policy for the border dwellers so that they do not suffer during ceasefire violations by the Pakistan.
Avtar Singh Khalsa, general secretary District Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee Jammu, expressed serious concern over the situation on border and appealed the Government to make a relief package for the victim families so that adequate compensation may be instantly given without any delay.
