JAMMU, Aug 5: The activists of Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) today held strong protest at Vijaypur in Samba against statement of NC leader Devinder Singh Rana on Article 35-A while the members of the NGO, “ We the Citizens” Jammu Kashmir Chapter has strongly demanded abrogation of Article 35-A.
BJYM district president for Samba, Amit Dubey was leading the protest at Vijaypur. The activists shouted slogans against NC leaders from Jammu region Devinder Singh Rana and Surjit Singh Slathia for their remarks on 35-A. He alleged that they were playing politics over Art 35-A and are befooling the people of Jammu region. They also burnt the effigies of Rana and Slathia.
Dubey attacked Rana, Slathia and others for their alleged double standards and said that they speak different language in Jammu while their speech in Kashmir bears totally strange connotations. He alleged that NC leaders are speaking the language of separatists thus reflecting their concern for these ‘anti-nationals’. It is strange that Rana and Slathia are speaking against the interests of the people of Jammu who voted for them.
While advocating revocation of Art 35-A, Dubey said that if it is not abolished now then the state has to face a disastrous future ahead. Ranhsir Sharma, som Verma, Shashi Pal Vaid, Sandeep Gupta, Atresh Dutt Ranveer Singh and others also joined protest.
Meanwhile, Chetan Sharma convenor of NGO – ‘We the Citizens’ in a press conference here said that we the citizens are the only legitimate petitioner of Article 35-A in the Supreme Court of India. Though the matter being sub-judice in apex court, yet here we are forced to put forth our legitimate observations.
“We the Citizens” petitioner in the Supreme Court  seek justice for the people left on the margins since decades; demands abrogation of Art 35-A. An amendment made in the constitution of India without the consent of Parliament undermines the wisdom of framers of Indian Constitution. Therefore, this invalid and illegal Article 35A has to be annulled. As grave injustice of denying Fundamental Rights to people is going on since long through this Article. So time has come to undone the wrongs of history. We the Citizens remains in forefront to fight for rights of masses and its Jammu chapter sees the light at the end of dark tunnel,” he added.
Mr Sharma further said that, those issuing threats of mass agitations in Kashmir and elsewhere must remain in limits as their poisonous propaganda  with malafide intentions to subjugate masses would boomerang. Pressurizing Supreme Court by issuing threats is unlawful and demands legal action.
“We appeal to  Central Government and State Administration for dealing these anti- nationals with iron hand. Supreme Court decides on the facts and can not be pressurized by the oppressors of the masses. We have deep faith in Indian judiciary and Indian Flag will keep fluttering with all its might,” Sharma maintained.
Others present in press conference were Kanwal Ganjoo, Anil Gupta, Rajan Gupta and Kamal Dev.
National Democratic Party in its meeting held here today under the leadership of Ravi Bakshi today strongly opposed the Article 35-A and demanded that it should be revoked. The members in the meeting condemned some Jammu leaders from NC speaking the language of Separatists and urged upon the Jammu people to boycott such leaders who speak against the interests of Jammu region. They said that the matter is lying before Supreme Court of India and they have full faith in the Indian Judicial system.
