Several schemes launched for downtrodden people: Ramzan

KATHUA, Mar 21: Minister for CA&PD and Transport, Ch. Mohammad Ramzan today said that the Coalition Government has launched various welfare schemes for downtrodden people of the State for strengthening their socio-economic status.
The Minister said this at a function organized by Lions Club Kathua Royal Kings, an International Organization here this morning with the aim to help the weaker section of the people and reward those who contributed to upgrade the social service of the people of the district.
The Minister asked the people to avail the benefits of these schemes as these are meant for their upliftment, adding that upliftment of weaker section of the society is the priority of the Government and thrust is being made to reach its benefit to real beneficiaries at their door step. He said that Social Welfare and Rural Development Departments have already widened network across the State to cover all the habitations of rural and urban area to provide immediate succor to these people.
Referring the contribution of NGOs towards the weaker section of the society, the Minister said that their contribution has a greater role for their upliftment.
Hailing  Lions Club contribution, the Minister said that they have to play bigger role for communal harmony, brotherhood at that time when everyone is hell-bent to divide the society on the basis of religion, cast, community and region. He asked them to widen their network in far off areas of the State so that people of every area are being benefited.
Saying that setting up of Panchayat institutions in the State is a land mark decision of the Omar Abdullah Government, the Minister directed the Panchayat Representatives (PRs) to play their role for the socio economic development of the State as people of their respective areas has reposed the trust on them for the same. He said that Government has already empowered them for planning the developmental programme of their constituencies and asked them to work in this direction.
Earlier, the Minister distributes the blankets, sewing machines among the beneficiaries of different areas of the Kathua.
Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Zhaida Khan, President Lions Club, Surjeet Singh Jammwal and Region Chairman Lion’s Club, Vinaya Vig also spoke on the occasion.
