Sex ratio in Budgam rises significantly under BBBP scheme

SRINAGAR: District Budgam in central Kashmir has significantly succeeded in increasing the sex ratio in the State, where five other district have also been taken up under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) scheme to increase the sex ratio of girl child.

Addressing a publicity cum awareness programme titled ‘Mera Desh Badal Raha Hai – Aagay Badh Raha Hai’ in Budgam, Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Horticulture, Floriculture & Parks, Priya Sethi said that the initiatives of the NDA Government for the development of people have started bearing fruits.

She appreciated the efforts of the State administration to achieve the goals in centrally sponsored schemes. She said that it is encouraging to note that under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme of the Central Government, Budgam district has succeeded in increasing the sex ratio to a significant level of 967:1000.

The Minister said that six districts of the state have been taken up under the programme including Budgam where the Government is taking different initiatives to increase the sex ratio of girl child.          Ms Sethi said that Education Department under the Skilled India Scheme is trying to groom the girl child to be a job provider and not the job seekers.
