Security forces launch CASO in South Kashmir, clashes erupt

SRINAGAR: Security forces launched a Cordoned and Search Operation (CASO) in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, where security forces burst teargas shells to disperse the stone pelting demonstrations on Friday, official sources said.
They said on a tip-off about the presence of militants, security forces and Special Operation Group (SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation at village Kareenabad this morning.
The forces sealed all exit points and launched house to house search operation, they said.
However, people in the adjoining areas immediately hit the streets and started pelting stones on security forces to disrupt the operation. Security forces burst teargas shells and also resorted to lathicharge to disperse the demonstrators who were pelting stone and trying to enter the cordoned off area.
Later, security forces called off the search operation after no militant was found in the area. (AGENCIES)
