JAMMU, Oct 11: Shabir Ahmed of Samba, Inderjeet of Jammu and Mushtaq Ahmed of Kathua emerged best athletes in Under-14, 17 and Under-19 groups respectively in the Divisional Level Inter-District Boys Athletic Meet, which concluded at Jammu University Grounds, here today.
Meanwhile, Samba District won overall championship in Under-14 boys, while Jammu District bagged overall championship in Under-17 and Under-19 boys. The runner-up trophy in Under-14 boys went to Jammu District, while Kathua District claimed runner-up trophy in Under-17 and Under-19 boys.
Ved Parkash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest on the concluding ceremony and distributed prizes among the winners and runner-up teams.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest advised the athletes to improve their skill for better results in future.
The competitions are being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the patronage of Naveen Aggarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports and under the overall supervision of Ved Prakash, Deputy Director Youth Services & Sports Jammu.
Prominent among others who gave away the medals to the winners were Tirath Ram, DYSSO Jammu, ZPEOs SaritaPandha, Jeet Singh, SaromanDogra and Sher Singh.
Meanwhile, in 3000 Mtrs Under-17 boys, Parveen Kumar of Kathua clinched gold, Sher Singh of Ramban bagged silver and Roshan Singh of Reasi claimed bronze.
In 200Mtrs Under-14 boys, Ramneek Singh of Poonch, Raj Kumar of Ramban and Liaquat Ali of Kathua bagged gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in 200Mtrs Uunder-17 boys, Shiv Kumar of Kathua clinched gold, Munna Kumar of Reasi claimed silver and Vivasan Sawhney of Jammu won bronze and 200 Mtrs Under-19 boys, Yaar Mohd of Poonch bagged gold, Rakesh Singh of Jammu clinched silver and Sunny Deol of Samba claimed bronze.
In 4 x400 Mtrs: Under-19 boys, team of District Poonch bagged gold, team of District Kathua claimed silver and team of District Samba clinched bronze.
In Triple Jump Under-17 boys, Kajal Singh of Jammu, Ishtiaq Ahmed of Poonch and Vishal Singh of Samba claimed gold, bronze and silver respectively, while in Triple Jump Under-19 boys, Deep Yadav of Jammu clinched gold, Mohd Arif of Samba bagged silver and Mohd Imran of Udhampur claimed bronze.
