JAMMU, Apr 7: Range Police Headquarter Jammu organized a Volleyball tournament in the memory of Shaheed DySP Gulbadhan Singh Bhau, in which 19 teams including three women participated under J&K Police’s Civic Action Programme (CAP) at University of Jammu, here today.
The tournament was inaugurated by chief guest DIG Jammu Shakti Kumar Pathak, while Staff Officer to DIG Jammu, Rajinder Singh Katoch was the guest of honour.
The event starts with the welcome of the chief guest, followed by offering tribute to Shaheed DySP Gulbadhan Singh Bhau.
DySP RPHQ Jatinder Singh tied badge to DIG Jammu, ADO RPHQ DySP Raman Kumar tied badge to Staff Officer to DIG Jammu and Sub Inspector Suresh Kumar and ASI Tarsem Lal tied badge to SDPO South, Jammu.
The DIG said that the main motive of the Police to organize such a tournament is to remember the sacrifice of Shaheed DySP Gulbadhan Singh Bhau for the country and encourage youth to take more part in sports activities and stay away from drugs and bad company.
Staff Officer Rajinder Singh Katoch briefed about the sacrifice and achievements of Shaheed Gulbadhan Singh Bhau and fixture of the Volleyball tournament and also said that the semifinal and final matches of the tournament will be played at the birthplace of Shaheed DySP Gulbadhan Singh Bhau.
A total of seven matches (5 male and 2 female) were played, wherein Mahadev Club Kaku De Kothey Arnia beat Volleyball Club Balle Bagh Akhnoor, Porgo Club Pargwal defeated Gulbadhan Club Pallanwala, Border Line Club Pallanwala trounced Pangali Tigers Club, Volleyball Club Khour beat Volleyball Club Narayana Lower and Porgo Club Pargwal defeated Mahadev Club Kaku De Kothey Arnia.
In women’s matches, Army Children Club beat Trikuta Warrior and Trikuta Club Jammu defeated Army Children Club.
The whole event is organized under the control and command of DIG Jammu and overall supervision of Staff Officer to DIG Jammu. The team members of CAP RPHQ Jammu were also present during the tournament.
