POONCH, Apr 3: Shakeel Ahmed, Sajad Ahmed and Zahid Shabir bagged first, second and third positions respectively in the Under 14 Shot-put event organised during two day long District Athletic Championship, which concluded at sports stadium here today.
In Under 14, Mantan Singh, Sahid Shabir and Sahil Khan emerged winners in 100 meters, whereas in 600 meters Mohammad Abass, Mohammad Yunis and Ishquaib Akhter claimed first, second and third positions respectively.
In Under 16, Ravneet Singh, Manpreet Singh and Gangandeep Singh claimed first, second and third positions respectively in 100 meters, whereas in 200 meters, Sajad Ahmed, Sahil Farooq and Gurdip Singh emerged winners.
In 400 meters, Baljeet Singh, Shakil Ahmed and Danish Ahmed emerged winners, whereas in 1000 meters, Jamil Ahmed, Dalprit Singh and Mehmood Ahmed bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
In Discus Throw, Manpreet Singh, Gurdeep Singh and Imran Khan claimed first, second and third positions respectively.
In Long Jump, Daman Sharma, Rakesh Kumar and Japman Singh bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
On the valedictory function, Narjit Singh, incharge, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) was the chief guest, who awarded the winners in presence of Nirdosh Kumar, general secretary, Sports Stadium.
While speaking, Narjit Singh and Nirdosh Kumar said that sports plays pivotal role for the overall development of the body. They asked the youth to participate in the sports activities to keep their body mentally and physically fit.
The aforesaid events were officiated by Lavender Singh, Matinder Pal Singh, and Nirdosh Kumar, PETs, Mukesh Kumar, MPED, Mohammad Shafi, Harcharan Singh, Ram Parkash and Mushtaq Ahmed.
The championship was organised by District Athletic Association under the supervision of its general secretary Gurmeet Singh.
