JAMMU, Sept 20: Senior Congress leader and former Minister Sham Lal Sharma has voiced concerned over the lathi-charge on PHE daily wagers, need based and ITI trained workers who were carrying out peaceful demonstration for their long pending demands relating to regularisation and release of outstanding wages.
Mr Sharma lambasted on BJP-PDP Government for their callous attitude towards the genuine demands of PHE workers. He further said that these daily wagers were earlier on indefinite strike. At that time, the PHE Minister and local administration met these workers and assured them that their demands will fulfilled with in three months.
The Congress leader said that on the assurance of higher authorities these workers suspended the their agitation. Despite the assurance given by the PHE Minister and local administration, the demands haven’t been fulfilled.
He said that since the demands weren’t fulfilled the workers took out peaceful procession and they were lathicharged by the police thereby depriving them of basic fundamental rights.
Mr Sharma expressed his concern over the injustice done to these daily wagers/Casual labours/ need based and ITI trained workers. He said that once the assurance was given by the concerned Minister and local administration, it is binding on them to fulfill the same immediately.
The former Minister apprehended that there is already unrest in the Valley where the BJP-PDP Govt is totally crippled and now such like situation is being created due to inept attitude by BJP- PDP Govt in Jammu region. He said that daily wagers of different departments such as PHE, PDD, GMC, MCJ are also protesting against the Govt for delay in fulfilling their demands, due to which common man is facing severe problems. He said that Govt is harassing daily wagers, need based and casual labours by turning a blind eye towards their urgent needs.
