POONCH, Dec 7: First Sham Lal Memorial Girls Hockey Tournament, organised by Sham Lal Hockey Academy in collaboration with Hockey Poonch and J&K Sports Council under the aegis of Hockey J&K, commenced at Sports Stadium, here today.
About six Hockey teams are participating in this tournament which will be played on league cum knockout basis.
The opening match was played between Power House Hockey Club and Sham Lal Hockey Academy Poonch wherein former won the match by 5-4 goals. Meenakshi secured two goals in 11th and 18th minutes while Ishta netted the ball in 32nd and 49 minutes and Jaspreet bagged one goal in 48th minute of the games. For Sham Lal Hockey Academy, Urvashi and Sita scored three and one goals respectively.
Earlier, DySP DAR Sachin Gupta declared the tournament open and interacted with the teams’ players and advised them to work hard to achieve the goal. Surinder Singh veteran Hockey player, Ashok Kumar, veteran Footballer) Rajinder Singh Toofan, Kewal Krishan, Sanjay Misri (All senior hockey players), Rajinder Singh, Pervaiz Malik Afridi chairman EHSAAS Foundation Poonch, Matinderpal Singh, Ranveet Singh and Navjot Singh (All Hockey coaches) were present during opening ceremony.
The match was officiated by technical panel comprised Vikas, Harmik, Sunil, Kavaldeep and Agrim, while match was technically supervised by coaches including Pawan Kumar, Mukesh Kumar and Navjot Singh.
