JAMMU, Aug 3: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Sharma said that an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in the implementation of development programme in the state.
This was stated by the Minister while addressing a large gathering after laying foundation stone of model village at Panchayat Sungal Lower-B (Palwr) in Akhnoor tehsil to be developed by the Rural Development Department.
He said that the model town will be developed with all modern facilities like link roads, lanes and drains, picnic spots, solar lights, IAY houses, etc.
Highlighting the role of various flagship schemes under rural development in alleviating poverty and changing rural landscape in the State, the Minister said that people should come forward to avail maximum benefit from these schemes so that they can get empowered both socially and economically.
Mr. Sham asked the executing agency to complete all the development works within stipulated time frame by using quality material, adding that Government has resolved to provide concrete assets to the people across the State. He asked the Rural Development Department to put their sincere efforts in developing the area on modern lines. Mr. Sham said that Sarpanchs and Panchs have to play vital role for implementation of the scheme in rural and remote areas. He called upon them to work with zeal and dedication for upliftment of poor people of the areas.
Kuldeep Raj Verma also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the various welfare schemes.
Among others, Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control H. C. Jerath, S. C. Jerath, SE Hydraulic Rajeev Malhotra, BDO Deepak Dubey, other officers were also present on the occasion.
