JAMMU, May 21: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Sham Lal Choudhary today urged the people to consider public assets as their own and supplement Government’s efforts of protecting them.
The Minister said this while addressing a public grievances redressal camp at Suchetgarh in which people hailing from Baspur Bangla, Badyal Brahmana, Nikowal, Kotli Galabana, Korotana Khurd, Flora and adjoining villages participated.
The villagers apprised the Minister of the problems being faced by them related to power supply, water supply, education, healthcare, sanitation and road connectivity and sought intervention of their redressal.
The villagers from Baspur Bangla demanded upgradation of local power station from 250 to 400 KW, blacktopping of link roads, construction of lanes and drains besides erection of new electric poles in the village.

The people from Nikowal demanded renovation of tube well and construction of nallah in the area while as villagers from Korotana Khurd projected their demand for construction of community hall in the area.
Responding to public demands, the Minister issued necessary directions to the concerned to take the appropriate steps in addressing the public grievences, besides completion of ongoing developmental works within stipulated time frame.
He further said the Government has taken various steps for welfare of common masses and special attention is being given to empower the women and ameliorating the socio-economic condition weaker sections of the society.
Later, the Minister inaugurated Lift Irrigation Scheme at Pindi Sarochan-II constructed on the right bank of Garore nallah at the cost of Rs. 210.77 lakh under NABARD. He also inaugurated newly constructed lanes and drains at Jajowal in Panchayat Jora constructed under cluster model village Chakrohi, BADP at the cost of Rs. 9 lakh.
The Minister said that Prime Minister Narinder Modi envisions to double farmers’ income by 2022 for which various farmer-friendly initiatives have been taken by the Government. He asked the villagers to take optimum benefit of state and centrally sponsored schemes being implemented by the Government for their welfare.
