JAMMU, June 15: Following approval by the Election Commission of India, the State Government today issued an order appointing IAS officer of 1991 batch Shantmanu as Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the State.
He will also function as Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Incharge of Election Department.
Shantmanu had earlier served as the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu and Commissioner/Secretary Health and Medical Education Department.
The Election Commission had cleared his name for posting as the CEO J&K from a panel of three IAS officers. The post of the CEO was lying vacant after Umang Narula had proceeded on the Central deputation.
