JAMMU, Nov 1: Emerging artists from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana States in a colourful presentation marked the annual Intra-Regional Cultural Festival organized by POWERGRID Corporation of India, Northern Region -II.
The Cultural Festival and traditional Handicrafts Exhibition was held at Inderdanush Auditorium in Panchkula yesterday evening.
S K Sharma, Executive Director, Northern Region Transmission System- II was the chief guest on this occasion whereas Meena Sharma, Patron Srishti Mahila Samiti NRTS-II was the guest of honour.
Sharma inaugurated the Cultural Meet by lighting the traditional lamp whereas Meena Sharma had earlier inaugurated the Handicrafts Exhibition in presence of large number of guests, POWERGRID employees and families. R K Chouhan, Executive Director Kurukshetra was also present on this occasion.
The Cultural Festival encompassing talent from four Northern States swayed the audience to the beats of colorful folk dances and songs highlighting rich composite culture of the Region.
The cultural programmes were showcased on hot burning issues like, environment, female foeticide, safety, drug abuse and Swach Bharat.
All the items in the programme, successfully managed to depict their themes from Mitti Rudan Kare by young artists of Abullapur substation, Sawach Bharat by the artists of Kishenpur substation, Sashakt Nari by Kaithal substation ,Aag Da Punjab by the artists of Kartarpur substation, Aahsas by Nalagarh Substation , Laut Wattan ko Aa by Patiala substation ,you kaisa insaf by Bhadurgarh substation, Pukar by the artists of Moga substation, Jai Jawan Jai Kissan by artists of Hisar to Mangal Karne Paap Vinashani – Maa Vashnov by the troupe of Regional Office Jammu, all the items managed to spell bound the audience as they performed like thorough professionals.
Besides these a traditional Handicrafts Exhibition comprising Crafts, Arts, & Fine Arts, was displayed which had been made by the employees of POWERGRID and their families.
The winners as well as participants of Cultural Function were presented trophies and mementos by the chief guest and in Handicrafts Exhibition the participants whose items were selected as the first, second and third were also given away prizes by S K Sharma and other dignitries.
Cultural team from Kartarpur was declared as the winner, wheras the teams from Nalagarh, Bahadurgarh and Jammu recieved 2nd, third and consolation prizes respectively.
Earlier, R Narayan, Chief Manager (HR), NRTS-II presented welcome address, while Ram Niwas, AGM presented vote of thanks.
