Sharma meets 33 delegations

SRINAGAR, Dec 26: Centre’s Special Envoy on Jammu and Kashmir, Dineshwar Sharma, visited North Kashmir’s Baramulla district today and met a cross section of people.
An official said that Sharma was scheduled to meet 24 delegations but ended up meeting 33 delegations from various areas of district Baramulla at Dak Bungalow.
Around 150 people from various delegations took up wide range of issues with Dineshwar Sharma, from unemployment, harassment of youth by law enforcing agencies, lack of basic amenities in their areas, underdevelopment and the prevailing situation in Kashmir.
Beopar Mandal Baramulla and Bar Association Baramulla, however,  didn’t meet Sharma. Political parties such as PDP, AIP and Congress besides college students from various degree colleges of Baramulla district, youth representatives, minority communities both Sikh and Pandit and other delegations met Dineshwar Sharma.

Delegation headed by State Spokesperson Pradesh Youth Congress Sheikh Aamir said that many issues related to youth of Jammu and Kashmir were raised with the Interlocutor.
“We put forward few points like alienation of Kashmir youth, lack of good governance, ill conceived policies of Government, harassment of Kashmir students in outside states and rise in drug addiction. Dineshwar Sharma is a keen listener and we hope that he will pass on this message to Centre,” Sheikh Aamir said.
Earlier, Bar Association Baramulla and Trade Federations abstained from meeting Dineshwar Sharma claiming the Interlocutors meet with civil society as a ‘futile exercise’.
Dineshwar Sharma, a former IB chief, was appointed as Special Representative by Government of India in October 2017, formally to hold sustained dialogue with all stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir.
