Shashi’s knock goes in vain as Haryana Police scripts narrow win

JAMMU, Jan 14: A splendid knock of power-packed 64 runs by Shashi Kumar of Simula Cricket Club went in vain as Haryana Police registered a narrow win by 2 wickets over tournament contenders in the ongoing Police Martyrs’ Memorial North Zone T20 Cricket Championship at District Sports Stadium Kathua today.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Simula Club scored a decent total of 157 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Shashi Kumar top scored with 64 runs off 53 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and 2 sixes. For Haryana Police, Amrinder, Kuldeep and Vicky claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Haryana Police chased the target in 20th over by losing 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets. Sunil top scored with 32 runs off 21 balls including 5 boundaries, while Amrinder smashed 28 off 9 balls with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes. For his brief but thunderous knock, Amrinder was adjudged man of the match. He was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 2100 and man of the match trophy by Gopal Mahajan, district general secretary BJP.
