JAMMU, Dec 23: Shaurya International School celebrated its 15th Annual Day- Oorja: The Melting Pot amidst great splendour and enthusiasm, wherein former Union Minister and former Chief Minister, Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Nabi Azad graced the occasion as chief guest, here today.
Besides, the chief guest, a galaxy of dignitaries who graced the occasion as guests of honour were Kuldeep Khoda, former DGP; trustees, Uma Gupta and Kusum Gupta, Harinder Mahajan, Chairman, School Management Committee and Sahil Mahajan, vice-chairman, School Directors including Pooja Mahajan and Miho Mahajan, besides distinguished guests Santosh Gupta and Dr Neelam Saraf were also present on the occasion.
The occasion started with a floral homage to Janak Raj Gupta and late Sneh Gupta, who founded the Institution. It was followed by lighting of traditional lamps by the chief guest, Ghulam Nabi Azad along with guests of honour.
The Annual School Report, was read by Principal, Dr Rajesh Gandral. He highlighted students’ accomplishments and outlined his goals for the development of the Institution. Along with the felicitation of eminent personalities, meritorious students were also given prizes for excellence in academics as well as co-curricular activities. The best house for the session was won by Prarthana House headed by Anuradha Jamwal.
The dance drama “Oorja: The Melting Pot” honouring the union of the old School students, the fusion folk with its Indian and international folk dances were staged by the students.
The chief guest remarked that Shaurya International School is a well-known institution in Jammu and that the teachers there are to be credited for bringing the School to such heights of achievement. He further said that SIS is excellent in all academic subjects and praised the institution for establishing a distinct identity.
The guest of honour, Kuldeep Khoda complimented that SIS is a facility for dispensing excellent instructions since it has been steady and unflappable for 15 years.
Harinder Mahajan, Chairman of the Management Committee, argued that the degree and calibre of a education represent the progress of that state and SIS always believes in providing world class education to its students. Sahil Mahajan, while addressing the august gathering claimed that SIS is a School where students succeed in a variety of extracurricular activities like sports & cultural aspects.
The vote of thanks was proposed by head girl, Ananyadeep Kour. The programme culminated with the National Anthem.
